D uring the spring of 2019, my life provided me with a wake up call I didn’t even know I needed. I always believed I was living to my fullest potential, but that could not have been farther from the truth.
The call forced me to look at myself with a zoom lens I had never explored before; one that required a level of vulnerability I’d rarely experienced. My antidote to the fear was to read, and I found solace in books about self-love and discovery.
Just as I had always found comfort in the presence of others, I found serenity and understanding from the pages of these books. The insights, quotes, and beautiful words from these authors inspired me to push myself to learn more about who I am and who I want to be.
The only thing that could possibly make it better would be to share it.
“Maybe this is why we read, and why in moments of darkness we return to books: to find words for what we already know.”
